Clinical trials
Latest lymphoma research

At Lymphoma Action, we keep up-to-date with the latest developments in lymphoma research to ensure that our information and services stay relevant and reflect current practice. We do this through our Medical Advisory Panel, our relationship with experts in the field, and by attending meetings and conferences.
This July we attended the Haematology Highlights for the UK - Post Summer Congresses meeting in London. This meeting brought together experts from across the UK to discuss the research presented at two important conferences: the International Conference on Malignant Lymphoma in Lugano, and the European Haematology Association Congress in Milan.
The lymphoma research community is very active with a wide range of ongoing studies happening across the world. Clinical trials and the availability of new therapies are continually improving the outcomes for people diagnosed with lymphoma.
The presentations described how current research is focusing on many areas:
- deepening our understanding of the biology of lymphoma to guide future research
- expanding the use of currently available treatments to other lymphoma types
- personalising treatment by predicting groups who will benefit most from specific approaches
- using diagnostic tools to help guide optimal treatment duration, determining when to adjust or stop therapy, reducing unnecessary treatment side effects
- exploring new treatment types
- improving quality of life by reducing the side effects of treatment whilst maintaining efficacy
- optimising the order in which treatments are used, potentially using new treatment options earlier in the treatment pathway
- understanding the long-term impact of lymphoma and it’s treatment.
