Clinical trials
Lymphoma TrialsLink
Clinical trials are essential for finding new ways to treat people with lymphoma. Our clinical trials information service, Lymphoma TrialsLink, has brought all of these trials together as a place for you to find a UK-based clinical trial that is right for you.
What is Lymphoma TrialsLink?
Clinical trials are medical studies which aim to find better ways to diagnose, prevent and treat different diseases. All new treatments, including those for lymphoma, must first be tested in clinical trials before they are approved for use. Lymphoma TrialsLink is a tool for people to find information about clinical trials, and to search for a UK-based clinical trial that might be suitable for them. Our aim is to help you to make informed decisions about your lymphoma treatment.
How does TrialsLink work?
Lymphoma TrialsLink brings together all the current clinical trials for people with lymphoma. We only include trials that are currently recruiting people in the UK, and regularly remove any trials that have closed to recruitment. There are currently 82 open trials on TrialsLink, with 31 brand new trials added this year alone.
You can search the Lymphoma TrialsLink database by type of lymphoma. Doing this will bring up all the summaries for trials that may be useful to you.
Each trial summary provides brief information about what the trial is testing, which hospitals are involved, and who might be eligible to take part, as well as links to further information about what taking part will involve.
We are not able to refer people to specific trials. If you’re interested in taking part in a trial you have found on Lymphoma TrialsLink, we recommend you discuss it with your medical team. They can advise you on whether you might be eligible for the trial and how you can take part based on your individual circumstances.
What if there isn’t a trial for you?
All clinical trials have strict eligibility criteria saying who can and can’t take part. These are important because they make sure that the clinical trial is safe for the people who take part, and that it compares different treatments in people who have similar characteristics, such as age and lymphoma type.
It might be that there isn’t currently a trial available for you. This can be disappointing, but new clinical trials do open throughout the year, so keep visiting Lymphoma TrialsLink to see if there are new trials that might be suitable for you. You could also talk to your medical team about other options.
If you haven’t found a trial for your type of lymphoma and you’d like to speak to someone for emotional support, you can call our helpline team on 0808 808 5555, Monday to Friday, 10am to 3pm. They are also available via LiveChat on our website.
Funding
Lymphoma TrialsLink is part funded by external organisations including pharmaceutical companies. However, they have no influence over the information we provide. It is also funded by voluntary donations from Lymphoma Action supporters. We’d like to thank everyone who has contributed towards the charity and the running of Lymphoma TrialsLink.

BSH conference
At Lymphoma Action we stay up-to-date with all the latest research and developments in the world of lymphoma. We recently attended the British Society of Haematology (BSH) annual conference in Liverpool. This was an exciting opportunity to hear from the clinical experts about new ways to treat people with lymphoma, what clinical trials are currently going on, as well as what is in the pipeline. Look out for an update on the latest research in the next issue of Lymphoma Matters.
